PES Scholarship Plus Golf Outing
5 May 2012 - Shingle Creek Golf Course, Orlando, FL
Registrations are now being taken
for the 1st IEEE
PES Scholarship Plus Program Golf Outing scheduled for May 5, 2012 at Shingle Creek Golf Club in Orlando,
Florida. The golf outing is being sponsored by the IEEE Power &
Energy Society and is being held prior to the 2012 IEEE PES Transmission and
Distribution Conference and Exposition. If you participate in this golf
outing, you will enjoy a great day of camaraderie and friendly competition
between golfing friends and colleagues who will tee it up all for the benefit
of the IEEE PES Scholarship Plus
Initiative and the Next Generation of Power and Energy Engineers.
The purpose of the IEEE PES
Scholarship Plus Initiative is to help address the crucial challenge facing the
field of power and energy – the impending shortage of power engineers needed to
sustain and transform electric energy systems that the United States so heavily
relies upon. Nearly one-half of all existing power engineers are eligible to
retire and are likely to leave the workforce within the next five years.
In the first year of the program, IEEE awarded 93
PES Scholarships to students from 51 universities (including 4 from the
University of Central Florida) across the United States, totaling nearly
$200,000 in scholarship dollars. With 2012 marking the second year of the IEEE
PES Scholarship Plus Initiative, the goal is to allocate 400+ scholarships to
eligible students.
The cost to participate in the golf
outing is $125 per person*. There are a limited number of seats
available for this golf outing that will offer all competitors the opportunity
to win individual and team prizes. Early registration is encouraged as seats
will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis.
The day's outing begins at 8:00 a.m.
with a shotgun start followed by luncheon and the awards presentations. Visit
the registration
page and make your reservation NOW.
